F.A.Q.
Q: Do field trips cost extra?
A: No. Field trip costs are included in camp tuition.
Q: What should my child bring to camp?
A: Lunch and 2 healthy snacks. (sorry, no lunches that need to be heated)
Younger children my want to bring a small pillow and blanket for down time.
Also, Fridays are pool days, so make sure your child has everything they need (swim clothes, dry clothes, towel, water wings/life jacket if needed, sun block, goggles, etc.)
Q: Will my child learn Karate during camp?
A: Yes. All campers will participate in daily Karate classes throughout the summer. Beginners will start out at the white belt level and current students tend to progress faster when participating in daily classes.
Q: My child cannot swim. Will they be safe on pool days?
A: Absolutely! We always have at least two adults present for swim days. Sensei Pierce is a retired Navy search and rescue swimmer. Sensei Bishop is a trained pool life guard, and Mrs. Pierce is an E.R. Nurse.
Q: Will my preschooler be playing contact sports with older kids?
A: Safety is always priority at our Dojo. Some games we play are safe for everyone to participate together. For the more fast pace games we separate the kids by size and/or age.
Q: Will my child have any down time/nap time during the day?
A: After lunch each day, we have about an hour of relaxing time to allow their food to settle. For the kids who don’t take naps, we play a movie on our large screen projector or let them read an age appropriate book.
Q: How will my child be transported for field trips?
A: We have a school van and suv that we used for after school pickup during the school year. Our drivers are licensed and insured. We also invite parents to come help chaperon field trips and park/pool days.
Q: What is the cost for camp?
A: Cost for summer camp is $150 per week or $40 per day. There is a one time registration fee of $75 which includes a camp tee-shirt. For current Karate students we will waive the monthly tuition for campers attending four weeks in a month. Also, we offer a 10% discount for siblings.
Please register 10 days prior to your child’s start date so we can plan accordingly.
